Our UKATA asbestos awareness training course is designed to increase asbestos awareness and highlight the hazards of asbestos within the working environment and meets the training requirements of Regulation 10 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012.

Asbestos awareness

Asbestos awareness training is particularly important for any employees, tradesmen or contractors who are working at any premises which may contain asbestos and particularly those who work on construction sites and will be undertaking or overseeing any refurbishment or demolition works. The following topics will be covered:

  • Asbestos history and background
  • Types and uses of asbestos
  • Hazards of asbestos and health effects
  • Examples of many types of asbestos containing materials
  • Emergency procedures for asbestos exposure
  • Legislation / obligations
  • Course duration – 4 hours

Asbestos masterclass

Upon completion of this course you will have a broad understanding of the key elements of the asbestos industry.  This course includes classroom, laboratory and practical training facilities set at our office in the East Sussex countryside.  We will spend the day looking at a number of elements of asbestos based topics, with a mix of both theory and practical sessions, we will cover:

  • Regulatory requirements
  • Surveys and preconstruction information
  • Materials assessments
  • Priority assessments
  • Asbestos analysis (includes demonstration in a working laboratory)
  • The removal and remediation process (includes mock enclosure)
  • Air testing
  • Interpreting post remediation reports / project completion packs
  • Updating asbestos registers
  • Course duration – 8 hours
