It is with great pleasure that we can announce that as of 2nd November 2011, Core are UKAS Accredited to carry out all types of asbestos survey. Well done to everyone who has worked on achieving this!

Asbestos Survey Types

MDHS100 was the original guidance document for asbestos surveys and surveyors, written by the Health and Safety Executive. It set out the ways in which asbestos surveys should be undertaken. The survey types were known as; Type 1 Asbestos Surveys, these were presumptive surveys and did not take samples of suspicious materials; Type 2 Asbestos Surveys were for asbestos management purposes and went the extra step of taking samples to confirm or refute the presence of asbestos; Type 3 Asbestos Surveys were to be carried out prior to major refurbishment or demolition works and were much more intrusive.

In 2010, the HSE replaced MDHS100 with a new guidance document known as HSG264 Asbestos: The Survey Guide. At the same time the names of the types of surveys were changed. Type 1 and Type 2 Surveys were replaced with Asbestos Management Surveys and Type 3 Surveys were replaced with Asbestos Refurbishment or Demolition Surveys. The document also aims to be much more client orientated as opposed to just being a guidance document for surveyors.

We are currently looking for new asbestos surveyors to join our team! Are you enthusiastic and do you have the P402 and between 6 months and 2 years asbestos surveying experience? For the right candidate/s we may offer the position/s even if you don’t currently have the P402 or relevant experience, but are willing to learn. Whilst there has been a lot of activity at what is now our South Chailey office, our Abergavenny office in South Wales has been going from strength to strength. We will be interviewing soon as part of our continuing expansion in the area.

April sees the introduction of our fully project managed removal service. Core has always undertaken asbestos removal project management but this has now led to a new service which truly means that Core is a one stop shop for all things asbestos. Call for more details.

Yet more change for 2011. March saw the re-launch of the Core brand with a new fresh look. The re-brand has been an exciting process and we’d like to thank the team at Renegade Hive for all their hard work. After 6 excellent years based at our office at The Sussex Innovation Centre, we took the decision to move to new premises. Continued expansion has meant the need for more space and with our own detached offices we also now have our own training facilities and ample parking for visitors. The Innovation Centre saw the company through many changes and all at Core would like to say a big thank you to the staff for their advice and support over the years.
