Commercial Energy Performance Certificate

The introduction of Energy Performance Certificates (EPC’s) has been a gradual one, over a number of years, depending on the type of building. However, if you buy or rent a property, commercial or residential, you must now have one. Also, any newly constructed buildings will also require one. All public authority buildings and public buildings with a useful floor space of over 1000m² will require what is known as a Display Energy Certificate (DEC).

EPC’s and DEC’s were introduced as part of the government’s initiative to dramatically cut carbon emissions within the UK and they aim to assess the energy efficiency level of buildings. Once the efficiency level has been determined it is possible to introduce measures to increase the efficiency of the building, but this is the property owner’s choice, although by introducing these measures they can reduce fuel costs in the long term.

The assessments must be carried out by qualified energy assessors,and that’s where Core come in. Following the assessment you will be provided with a certificate which shows the performance level of the building.
