Client: Asbestos Surveying and Consultancy Client: Wealden
District Survey Type: Asbestos Survey and Consultancy

Wealden District Council contacted Core Surveys in 2005 to carry out asbestos surveys in a percentage of their housing stock and sheltered schemes. Each building was surveyed and the survey details entered into the councils asbestos management system along with marked plans and photographs.

Our ongoing partnership has lead to us providing asbestos policy and management advice, asbestos awareness training and an asbestos advice line for tenants.

We continue to survey residential stock ahead of modernisation works and where any removal or remedial works are required we act as project managers.

Client: Environment Agency (Southern Region)
Survey Type: Legionella Risk Assessment

Having built up a successful partnership with the EA in the field of asbestos, Core Surveys Ltd was asked to look at the risk posed from Legionella bacteria in a number of their buildings. From our initial discussions we provided a proposal to carry out full Legionella risk assessments at a number of EA sites.

The buildings assessed ranged from small storage depots to larger multi purpose sites which included a variety of risk systems. Each site was issued with a comprehensive Legionella risk assessment report including recommendations for future management.

In addition to the risk assessments each site was also provided with a water management system. The water management system is a bespoke guidance document and log book designed to aid the monitoring of control measures at each site.

Positive feedback was received regarding the thoroughness and ease of use of the risk assessment documents and we look forward to auditing other buildings and systems in the future.

Client: Southern Tyre Company Ltd
Survey Type: Fire Risk Assessment

After completing the asbestos surveys for all branches of this large tyre fitting company throughout the southeast of England. Southern Tyre Company Ltd contacted us as they were to undergo Health and Safety reviews, part of which involved carrying out Fire Risk Assessments of each branch.

Core Surveys carried out full assessments of each building and provided recommendations and guidance where required, this included:

• Reducing fire safety hazards and sources of fuel;
• Suggesting further locations for fire signage;
• Ensuring there were suitable maintenance schedules in place for all fire fighting equipment;
• Establishing whether staff training was required
• Ensuring there was a designated representative for each site, who was responsible for implementing the above.

The assessments were/are provided in a clear, easy to read format. As in the case of Southern Tyre Company Ltd a follow up phone call and site visit with the designated representatives was made, to ensure that the contents of the assessments was fully understood. Annual re-inspections will now be carried out and the assessments amended where necessary.
