Asbestos Management Plan
All non domestic property managers (including those managing communal areas in residential blocks) are required by law to have an Asbestos Management Plan in place.
The purpose of this plan is to aid the effective management of any known or presumed asbestos containing materials in order to minimise the risk of exposure to asbestos fibres. The Asbestos Management Plan recommends management actions based on the survey findings. These management actions may range from regular re-inspections, labeling confirmed / suspected asbestos products and training provision for building users to a complete asbestos removal programme.
An Asbestos Management Plan typically includes asbestos assessment records, action plans, responsibilities, communication plan and emergency procedures. The asbestos register and survey documentation will form the basis of any good asbestos management plan; however the information contained within your survey documentation must be kept up to date and be made available to building users and contractors.
